The BALLS launch is held annually at the Black Rock dry lake bed outside of Gerlach, Nevada.  To get to BALLS I crated up my rocket and shipped it to myself, care of the UPS depot in Sparks, NV.  I had a friend who was driving down from Oregon bring propellant for me.  I flew from my home in Connecticut to Reno, where I rented a car, picked up my crate in Sparks and headed North to Gerlach and the Black Rock Desert.  This picture is Pyramid Lake along the road up to Gerlach.  I was excited and in a hurry to get to the launch, but it was too pretty to not stop and take a photograph. This part of the country sure looks different than it does where I live.
